A few developments: The guy claims to be a neighbor living "right behind here," they get to the point of introductions and shaking hands, and something has been "going on around here."

The guy "tried" another smile as he says he's a neighbor. I think first, Is he telling the truth? If so, is he a rather shy guy who's just out for a morning walk? Has he noticed her before from where he lives? He's aware that his place is "right behind here." Is he a sinister neighbor? If he's lying and "trying" a smile means he's faking it, then it doesn't look good.

The guy's next responses sound more normal, from "Yeah, I'm sorry" on.

The woman still seems too trusting to me, even though she is feeling on guard, based on how she "grips" one arm and has a "strained" smile before she gives her name.

The big question is: What's been going on around there? and how does the guy connect to it? Was the guy walking around the neighborhood to keep an eye on things and check on the safety of his neighbors?
