Imitate the unique voice of an author you admire. Find out how your piece would sound if William Faulkner were writing it, or Margaret Atwood, or Chuck Palahniuk, or Walt Whitman. Or Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, Lucinda Williams, Leonard Cohen.
